When the Faculty of Humanities celebrated its third anniversary in 2005, the idea of starting a magazine in which the employees of our Faculty, as well as scientists from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region, would present their scientific and research achievements, arose. Thanks to the enthusiasm and unwavering work spirit of all employees, the realization of this idea did not take long. Namely, the Teaching and Scientific Council of the Faculty of Humanities, at its session on 19.12.2005. adopted the Decision on starting a yearbook under the name "Research".

The journal "Istraživanja" includes scientific and professional papers, as well as reviews and reviews from the fields primarily studied at the Faculty: literature, linguistics, history, communication studies. The papers published in the journal are reviewed by eminent professors. The journal brings together authors from universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and beyond. It is indexed in the EBSCO Host, CEEOL and Slavic Humanities Index databases. The inclusion of the journal "Istraživanja" in the EBSCO Host database confirms the fundamental goal and task of the Faculty of Humanities - to produce the values of the human spirit. The indexing process began in January 2012. The journal "Istraživanja" met the criteria, and in June a contract was signed between the Faculty of Humanities and the management of the EBSCO host database, based in the United States of America.

The journal "Istraživanja" was included in the CEEOL database in 2014. The indexing that began in December 2013 represents a great success for our journal, as it makes it accessible to a wide international scientific community. CEEOL is an online database that currently contains over 600 publishers of journals and electronic books in the field of social sciences and humanities. The database is particularly dedicated to promoting scientific achievements from the areas of Eastern, Southern and Central Europe.

In December 2016, "Istraživanja" was included in the Slavic Humanities Index, a database that specializes in scholarly journals in the field of Slavic Studies. The Index currently contains over 230,000+ bibliographic units from 230 publications in 21 languages.
