Bosnian language and literature

The Department of Bosnian Language and Literature is one of the oldest at the Faculty of Humanities. The teaching process at the Department takes place within two cycles of study - the first and second cycle, with a total duration of five years. In the first study cycle, teaching takes place within eight semesters (four years).

The study program defines the key values and concept of the study. Within the first and second years of study, students acquire basic knowledge in Bosnian studies, starting from the first data on literacy and the formation of the Old Bosnian cultural context, while connecting them with cultural and historical movements on the broader South Slavic and overall European scene of the same period. In the third and fourth years, the program offers students a gradual transition to a higher level of knowledge. At the same time, students are prepared for modern teaching of the Bosnian language and literature in primary and secondary schools. They are educated for active engagement in the social community, a professional attitude towards students and the application of classical knowledge in a new contemporary context with the aim of maintaining the durability of knowledge, preserving and transferring fundamental humanistic values to younger generations.

After passing all the exams stipulated in this curriculum in the undergraduate study, by achieving 240 ECTS credits , students acquire the professional title of Professor of Bosnian Language and Literature . Upon completion of the undergraduate study, the student can continue the master's study (IX and X semesters, a total of 60 ECTS credits ), which gives them the professional title (title) of Master of Bosnian Language and Literature . This qualifies them for independent work in secondary and primary schools of all profiles.
